PSU Trinidad Scorpion Peppers

A study on the effect of ignorance and neglect on the growth of Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Peppers at Penn State University:

90 day (approx) experiment to determine whether it is possible for four entrepreneurial college freshmen to successfully germinate, plant, and maintain a Trinidad Scorpion plant and see it through to fruition.

Our "Plan"

  1. Purchase supplies:
    • Large flower pot
    • Mulch
    • Soil
    • Red/Blue LED plant light
    • Heat Lamp
    • Hinterland Trading Extreme Hot Pepper Collection
  2. Germination (1-3 Weeks):
    • Place seeds between two paper towels
    • Moisten paper towels on a daily basis
  3. Planting:
    • Move sprouted seedlings into larger, more dispersed environment.
    • Cover with soil.
  4. Maintenance (70-80 days):
    • Water plant twice a day
    • Ensure 14 hours of exposure to heat lamp and LED light
  5. Picking:
    • Pick them carefully with latex gloves to prevent burns.
    • Do something "responsible" with them.
